Matt Gittelson is a drummer of over 30 years experience. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Matt is a graduate of Musicians Institutes Percussion Institute of Technology (P.I.T.) and has a Bachelors Degree from Cal Poly SLO. Matt has studied with some of the music industry's very best educators including: Steve Houghton, Joe Porcaro, Casey Schurell, Efrin Torres, Chuck Flores and Ralph Humphrey. Matt credits these professionals as providing the foundation to his own approach of drum instruction. Outside the practice rooms, he is an on-call, independent performer, clinician and studio professional who has toured throughout the US and Europe and appeared on a multitude of albums.

Matt has performed for various productions in the Los Angeles area, such as Little Shop of Horrors, How to Succeed in Business, and Once Upon A Mattress. He is sponsored by Sabian Cymbals and Vater Percussion. A studio professional and accomplished performer Matt is a veteran of the stage and no stranger to the road. His credits include performances/recordings with Jon Anderson of Yes, award winning songwriter/performer Maia Sharp, IBC top ten blues band Pryor Baird and the Deacons and The Paul Cannon Band to name just a few. A powerful, dynamic and crafty drummer, Matt sites Steve Gadd, Jeff Porcaro, Manu Katche and John Bonham as some of his influences. An educator since 1989, Matt currently teaches and plays full time in San Diego CA . Matt uses Vater Super Jazz and Los Angeles 5A sticks, Splashstick Light / Heavy and Sweep brushes.!/artists/1207
